FORTIFIED roofs in Hammond
Hammond is the crossroads of this corner of the state. Interstate 55 runs north and south through it, Interstate 12 runs east and west, and the two cross on the south side of town. Before either of them there was the railroad, which is what put Hammond here to begin with and what turned it into a shipping point for the farms around it. Hammond is in Tangipahoa Parish, which the Louisiana Department of Insurance lists as eligible for the Fortify Homes grant as of July 2, 2026. The grant reimburses the cost of rebuilding your roof to the IBHS FORTIFIED standard, up to $10,000 per home. It is a cap on a reimbursement, not a flat check, and the money goes to your contractor after IBHS issues the certificate. Selection is a random lottery, so registering is not the same as being awarded.
